Article I: Name and Purpose

Section A - The name of the organization shall be the Association of Christian Collegiate Media (ACCM). The association shall be run from a national office to serve media and journalism programs in Christian colleges and universities across the country.


Section B - The purpose of the organization shall be to provide encouragement and professional guidance for Christian collegiate journalists, their advisers, and their journalistic publications and productions through the promotion of the Judeo-Christian ethic as a foundation and standard of professionalism



Article II: Membership

Section A - There shall be five classes of membership: (1) Media; (2) Individual Adviser; (3) Professional Associate; (4) Individual Associate; and (5) Honorary.


Section A1 - Media include newspapers, yearbooks, and magazines, as well as radio and television stations.


Section A2 - Individual advisers include advisers of student media that are not members of ACCM. The adviser shall have a vote.


Section A3 - Professional associates include associations in the communication field. The representative shall have no vote.


Section A4 - Individual associates include: (1) non-advising faculty or staff at a Christian college or university; (2) supportive journalism educators at secular colleges and universities; and (3) student journalists not enrolled in a Christian college or university. These members shall be non-voting and shall be ineligible for contests and critiques.



Article III: Structure

Section A - The board of directors shall consist of the president, vice president, executive director, and immediate past president.


Section B - The board of directors shall have general supervision of the affairs of the organization between its business meetings, make recommendations to the organization, and perform other duties specified in the Bylaws.


Section C - ACCM shall have a national office run by an executive director to handle operations under the auspices of the board of directors.



Article IV: Dues and Fees

Section A - The membership dues shall be paid annually, as prescribed in the Bylaws, and shall be used to pay expenses of the organization.


Section B - Appropriate fees shall be levied for conferences, contests, critiques, and other activities authorized by the board of directors



Article V: Bylaws

Section A - The board of directors may adopt Bylaws not specifically hereinafter specified as the occasion rises, subject to the provision that they shall not be inconsistent with the Constitution.


Section B - Any active members may propose an amendment to the Bylaws by submitting it in writing to the executive director, who will submit it to the members at the next annual business meeting or provide for a mail-in ballot between meetings upon approval by the board of directors.



Article VI: Parliamentary Procedure

In addition to the rules provided in this Constitution and Bylaws, the proceedings of this organization shall be conducted in accordance with Robert's Rules of Order.
